Happy Birthday, Desiree!

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes."
Marcel Proust
This is one of the quotes that we find at the beginning of the virtual journey through a breathtaking garden. Our careful guide, Desiree, takes us on meandering stone paths, under tall shady trees and past lovely flowers and ferns. Here and there, a water fountain, a surprising copper butterfly. It is as if she has whispered gently to nature to help her turn her garden into such a serene place.

But what intrigues the visitor aren't the photos themselves, but also the welcoming words, the stories that make you feel like you are there, wondering at the sights before you. She imparts some of her wisdom, sprinkled with quotes that leave one thinking, long after reading her posts.

I invite you to visit her blog, Driftwood Ramblings, and let yourself be led by our guide through journeys of the mind.

Happy birthday, Desiree!

May you grace us with your beautiful words and photos for many more years to come!

I wish to dedicate a small song to you, which reminds me of the serenity of your thoughts.

A few notes: The song is composed by Hans Zimmer and sung by Lisa Gerrard. The language is invented and words are used for their inner musicality and implied meaning.

  3. Dear Lavi!

Where on earth do I begin! This is an absolutely amazing work of love and generosity of heart and soul! It brought tears to my eyes when I read it and listened to the music (which is one of my favourite soundtracks!) - the video accompanying it all is so, so beautiful! I cannot imagine why I deserve this kind of attention...and it truly has overwhelmed me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Lavi! I realise how much time and effort has been put into this post and I am so touched that you thought me worthy of this! What a special little soul you are!!!

I LOVE the new look of your blog!!! And feel honoured that you chose the occasion of my birthday to launch it!

With lots of love and hugs,

    Des xoxo

  4. I'm back here after an unbelievably special day! I am still trying to process all of the loving thoughts and generosity of spirit that have flowed to me today from all of my incredible bloggy friends...it has been an overwhelming experience!

I am spending tonight popping over to thank as many of you as I can...and I'll be doing a special post tomorrow. That poor helicopter pilot must be going out of his mind wondering when he'll be permitted to land, since we're still all ostensibly up there flying around with him to complete the final part of our flight.

Thank you, once again, Lavi for this truly incredible gift!!! I'll be revisiting this post often, so you 'get your money's worth' for all the effort and thought that you put into it for me!

    Sweet dreams!

    Des xoxo

  5. First of all, I must admit (to my shame) that I did not make the video, I merely searched for a nice one. I don't even have anything to do with the song, though I sing it often.

Again, I am very happy that we all managed to sweep Desiree off her feet. Since she does that a lot for us too, I thought it only fair that we return the favour.

  6. Hi Lavi,

I'm so glad to find your blog and happy you visited mine. I was just thinking how nice it is that new connections are being made because Carol decided to celebrate Desiree in such a wonderful way. I'll be back to visit again.

  10. Hi Lavi!

It's Wednesday here...the week is passing quickly!

I did not, for one moment think you'd produced the video, you sweet girl, so please do not feel you needed to justify anything! This whole post was just truly special and I still can't believe how spoilt I was that you spent so much time putting it all together for me!

In the comment you left on my blog today, you expressed surprise that my family were in on the "Big Surprise" all of my blogging friends had planned...No, not at all! They had no idea! They just know I enjoy logging on to my blog when I get up in the mornings and so, they were just saying, "Go ahead!" so I wouldn't feel guilty, it being my birthday and all. :)

When I told them and showed them what you'd all been up to, they were just as overwhelmed as I was! Very happy for me...and just as surprised as I was at all the attention I was getting!

I thought that duck was an Egyptian goose...thank you for setting me right! :)

I hope you're having a lovely day! When is your birthday, BTW????????
